Potato Ham Green Bean Casserole
Ingredients
- 4 medium to large potatoes, sliced
- 2 cups cut up ham
- 12 ounce fresh green beans, cleaned and snapped in half
- 8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
- Cream Sauce (roux)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup broth, chicken or vegetable, low sodium
- salt, pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon of each: onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and your favorite seasoning mix
Directions
- Plug in a medium size slow cooker spray with cooking spray.
- Layer the potatoes, ham, and green beans in the slow cooker.
- Next spread half the shredded cheese on top.
- In a skillet turn heat on medium, add butter to melt then add flour mix together, stir for a few minutes, turn heat down to low, add the broth whisk together until blended, then add the milk whisk until completely blended and thickened.
- Stir in the spices until all is blended.
- Turn slow cooker on high.
- Pour sauce over slow cooker ingredients, evenly spread on top.
- Cook on high for about 4 hours. Rotate crock after 2 hours if needed, so not to burn on one side. This depends on your slow cooker.
- Take off lid, spread remaining cheese on top and cook for another half hour to one hour, check potatoes for doneness. Turn slow cooker to warm or off.
- Top with remaining cheese and allow to melt before serving. Enjoy!
