Christmas Cream Cheese Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup gluten free or regular flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 stick butter (1/2 cup), room temperature
- 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup glace` or maraschino cherries cut in half (red or green or both)
- 1 cup buttercream frosting, add food coloring if you like
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°, spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray, set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl beat with hand mixer on medium the butter and cream cheese.
- Add the sugar and beat together, add egg and beat together.
- Add the flour and baking powder mix until everything is combined.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refridgerate for about 2 hours.
- Roll dough into 1-2 inch balls, place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
- With a cup dipped in water press down the balls to flatten.
- Bake for about 10 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
- Transfer cookies to a cooling rack, after cooled frost each cookie.
- Frost cookie and top with a cherry half.
