Homemade Sausage Gravy
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 pound lean ground pork, crumbled and cooked, drain fat if needed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground sage, (add some fresh too if you have)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, (add some fresh to if you have)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, more to taste, if needed
- 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper, more if you like
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons regular or gluten free flour
- 2 cups milk, whole milk or 2%
- 4 baked biscuits, your favorite
DIRECTIONS
- Cook ground pork in skillet on medium heat, crumble to smaller pieces, drain fat if needed.
- Next add all the herbs and spices, stir to incorporate all evenly.
- Add the butter to melt, stir then sprinkle flour evenly over meat.
- Slowly add milk, keep stirring, it will start to thicken, if it gets to thick add a little more milk at a time. Cook to your desired thickness of gravy.
- Turn burner to simmer/low, cut biscuits in half lengthwise, set on plate and spoon sausage gravy over biscuits. Turn off burner. Serves 2-4. Serve and Enjoy!
