German Chocolate Fudgy Cake

Cake Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1/8 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup baking mix, regular or gluten free

Cake Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°, spray an 8 inch round cake pan with cooking spray, set aside.
  • In a medium mixing bowl whisk together the baking mix, baking cocoa, sugars,
  • Add the egg, cooking oil, and sour cream, mix everything together with hand mixer on medium until blended.
  • Turn mixer to low and slowly pour in hot water, mix until all is blended.
  • Bake in preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until toothpick in center comes out clean.
  • Set on cooling rack for a few minutes, turn cake over on a plate, cool completely before frosting.
  • Frost top of cake with the chocolate frosting. See frostings below.
  • Now frost the top with the coconut pecan frosting. Cut and Serve. Enjoy!

Coconut Pecan Frosting

  • 1/2 can coconut pecan frosting
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  • Mix together, set aside

Chocolate Frosting

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soft margarine or butter
  • 3 tablespoons baking cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • Beat together with mixer, set aside.
